In this corner of the internet, where lemon juice is squeezed better than dramas and jokes rule over autotune, Murcian musical parodies are born: great songs with artistry, humor, and a lot of street smarts. We change lyrics, twist melodies, and flip them around like an omelet at a fair. Nothing escapes us: everyday life, politics, the absurd, or what happened last night in the town square.

“Murcianico Style” or “La Marinera” Which musical parody from Murcia do you like best?
Murcia in your veins and joy in your body with “La Marinera” by Los Happys
“La Marinera” by Los Happys, led by the great Antonio Hidalgo, is a song that doesn’t beat around the bush: a festive parody of “La Gozadera” but with a Murcian twist. There’s no Cuba or Puerto Rico here, just paparajote, caldero, and lots of fun!
It premiered during the 2016 Spring Festivities in the heart of Plaza del Romea, when Murcia smells of flowers and the desire to party, just before the Burial of the Sardine. Since then, the song has spread like wildfire on social media, causing half of Murcia (and part of the rest of the world) to sing at the top of their lungs with a marinera in hand.
The lyrics are not to be missed: they review typical dishes and nods to the land that make us smile between beats. Because the marinera is not just an appetizer, it’s an institution! Crispy doughnuts, fresh salad, anchovies with salt… and all topped off with a Caribbean rhythm that lifts your spirits.
A song for those who feel Murcia is a festival and for those who know that there is no party without marinera music and no joy without Los Happys.
Murcianico Style “The Murcian evolution of Gangnam Style”
The first of the Murcian musical parodies… Have you heard of “Gangnam Style”? Well, in the orchard we have our own: “Murcianico Style”, a great song that gets into your body more than a paparajote at parties. It was released by Chema Ruiz, who is more Murcian than a zarangollo in August, and he gave it his own touch: a Panocho accent, good-natured humor, and a lot of sarcasm.
The video went viral back in 2012. Amid laughter and dancing, they staged a flash mob in the Plaza de Santo Domingo that rivaled even the spring festivals. A bunch of locals gathered there to dance as if it were high mass.
But beware, it wasn’t just mockery: the song is an ode to our culture, to speaking the way we speak, and to laughing at ourselves with more artistry than a folk festival. From the panochás to the good vibes of the land, “Murcianico Style” will remain forever in the memory of the band.
Of these two musical parodies from Murcia… Which one do you like best?
Honestly… I can’t choose between “La Marinera” by Los Happys and the legendary “Murcianico Style” by Chema Ruiz. Both are a festival of laughter and Huertano pride! One makes you shake your booty to the rhythm of rosquilla con ensaladilla, and the other takes you in flip-flops from Gangnam to Santo Domingo… but with lemons, corn cobs, and lots of artistry!
So, it’s clear to me: I’m not choosing, I’ll take them all! Because in Murcia we like to live life to the fullest, and if we’re going to dance, we don’t want to miss a single song or a single drink!
And you, are you more of a seafood person or do you prefer bread with tomato and Murcian energy?
