Pablo Escobar, the boss of evil – The Colombian series

Today, my wife and I want to share with you a gem that is a pleasure to watch and not easily forgotten. We’re talking about the Colombian series Pablo Escobar, the Boss of Evil, which is no ordinary show. She had already seen it in her homeland years ago and loved it. I, who am more of a popcorn-and-blanket kind of guy, recently finished watching it on Netflix… and my goodness, what a series!

Pablo Escobar, the boss of evil: the series that kept us glued to the couch

A series that hooks you from the very first episode. It perfectly portrays the life of drug lord Escobar, without sugarcoating or filters. And let me be clear: the American version of Narcos falls short compared to this one. This one has more truth, more intensity, and more Latin American flavor… in short, it’s much cooler.

If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for? Don’t say we didn’t warn you 😉

Hey, buddy! With all that, are you still thinking about watching the series?

If you grew up hearing stories about drug trafficking or simply enjoy a good series full of drama and action, Pablo Escobar, el patrón del mal is one you won’t easily forget. This Colombian production, released in 2012 by Caracol Televisión, plunges us into the life of Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria, the most famous (and feared) drug lord of the Medellín cartel.

With a stunning performance by Andrés Parra, who slipped into the role of the boss as if he had been born for it, the series takes us through more than 100 episodes full of tension, politics, violence, and that dose of harsh reality that sometimes surpasses fiction.

Based on the book La parábola de Pablo (The Parable of Pablo) by journalist Alonso Salazar, this narco-series doesn’t beat around the bush: it shows everything from Pablo Escobar’s humble beginnings to his explosive downfall, including his influence on politics, his excesses, his enemies… and his dark legacy.

Any surprises? The production spared no expense: over 1,300 actors, hundreds of locations in Colombia, and even scenes in Miami. Oh, and the music, with that great song by Yuri Buenaventura, La última bala, which perfectly sets the mood for the story’s heavy atmosphere.

Have we already told you where you can watch it today? It’s on Netflix and has been dubbed into several languages, which has allowed Escobar’s character to cross borders, for better or for worse.

Song from the series and personal opinion on drug trafficking in Colombia

My personal opinion as a Spaniard is that drug trafficking in Colombia should cease to exist, and that the Colombian people should finally understand that violence and drugs are not the key to ending their misery. This is neither a left-wing nor a right-wing issue. I know that there are significant differences between social classes in Colombia, but what the Colombian people should be fighting for is a social dialogue that leads to measures to move their society forward.

That may upset some people and benefit others. But none of that justifies violence or drugs. How can you get rich by killing others, please… My only wish for Colombia is that violence and drugs remain only in series like this one, reminding us how bad violence, hired assassins, and drugs are.

To finish off, we leave you with a legendary song that will make you remember this series forever. It is, of course, “La última bala” by Yuri Buenaventura.
